INSTEAD OF HIRING A BUTLER AND ADDING A 'PRESS FOR CHAMPAGNE BUTTON', TRY THESE TIPS INSTEAD ;)

So I'll let y'all in on a (not-so-little) secret...I. LOVE. VACATIONS! The rush of adrenaline I feel whenever I hunt down that elusive flight deal and lock it in before it disappears, or the satisfaction of booking the perfect hotel or Airbnb. Nothing compares to the high you get from just getting AWAY! Hell, I even enjoy the occasional staycation and discovering a new hidden gem in the city. Pretending I'm somewhere else and spoiling myself with room service and lounging around in hotel bathrobes and slippers is just my idea of fun...sue me lol.

The point I'm trying to make is that that feeling of pampering and luxury that you get while on vacay doesn't just HAVE to be restricted to when you travel. Why not get that feeling every day when you wake up?! I know you're probably thinking, "Sis, do you have wake-up-in-a-luxury-hotel-every-day money?" and the answer is no...no I do not BUT we've put together a few small ways you can get that "getaway feeling" without that getaway price tag.

*insert wink and finger gun*

QUALITY BEDDING IS KEY.

I don't care what anyone says, there are 2 types of amazing sleep; the sleep you get after wisdom tooth surgery (random...I know), and hotel sleep. There's something about the way those white sheets and fluffy mattress just cradle you like a little infant that makes for THE most restful vacation slumber. So you probably know where I'm going with this...SHEETS!

Invest in high quality bedding. This is one of the most important elements of your bedroom because it is where you lay your head. Now, there has recently been some talk about thread count and why any product that claims to be higher than 250 is complete BS, but don't even trip because we've found some legit bedding for you to try. Another tip is to go for the crisp white sheets to further the hotel feel. If you know you enjoy drinking coffee or tea in bed maybe opt for something a little darker...its all good, we don't judge. Want to learn how to get that perfectly made hospital corner and layering of the covers like the Four Seasons? We got y'all (s/o to Issa.)

CREATE A SITTING AREA.

Adding a small sitting area to your room not only increases that hotel feel, it also serves as a place to sit while you take your shoes off (or put them on), somewhere cozy to have a cup of tea or read a book, or just to lounge about when you don't necessarily feel like getting into bed. It will instantly add that little something the room needs. Don't have room for a sitting area? Use a bench at the foot of the bed for the same effect without taking up as much space!

SET THE MOOD.

Bow-chicka-wow-WOWWWW...

Okay that was childish but come ON you can't tell me that isn't one sexy room! Lighting can convey many different moods and here is no exception. This bedroom looks like something out of your favorite spy movie and its all thanks to some well-placed lights. Varying levels allow the eye to dance around the room and create an air of sophistication and relaxation. This look, while incredibly stylish, can be achieved by simply placing rope lights behind the headboard or any other place that will give off a soft, ambient glow. And you know how in hotels they have those cute lamps with built-in usb charging ports? Well we found a few you might like!

ADD BOLD ART.

Art is always transformative in any space, why not throw some in your bedroom? The best hotels generally have an overall theme that they stick to so imagine what theme "Hotel [your name here]" is going for. Whatever feeling you want to evoke in your room, let your art match. The bolder the better! Adding some live elements like flowers or a houseplant will not only improve your air quality, but gain you some style points too.

ADD A COFFEE STATION.

Are you one of those people? You know, the ones who look like something out of The Walking Dead before they've had their first cup? If so, this tip may just be something you can get with. Adding a coffee station (if space permits) in your room of course gives you the feeling of being on holiday (I just like saying that...I feel so posh lol) but it also adds a bit of convenience to your morning routine. Plus, who doesn't love the smell of freshly brewed coffee when they get out of bed?

*Pro-tip: If you have one of those fancy shmancy brewers that you can set to automatically brew a cup at certain times, set it for your normal rising time and have a hot cuppa ready to go!

EAT BREAKFAST IN BED.

Okay...so...this one has absolutely NOTHING to do with decor, but seriously eating breakfast while half dressed and still in bed is just the PEAK of relaxation and indulgence when you're away. Screw spring break, get that feeling now! We couldn't resist adding this last little bit because let's face it, after working hard all week sometimes we just need to be spoiled and eat our pancakes in bed...with champagne. Why not? Treat yo' self...
